MO Hang 5 - OT Thru Hike - May 3, 4, 5 2013

ok, so I was all packed and ready to go, as I leave for a week of work in Chicago. Everything loaded food, fuel and water (1/2 liter) 15 pounds total. I was very pleased, then the Ridgerunner/bugnet version showed up in the mail today.... oh! all my superlight weight hammock plans out the window- I laid in the ridgerunner with my 40 degree TQ and UQ and just about fell asleep in the set up process... must have it... must bring it.
So I am 16 1/2 pounds fully loaded. If I can lose a few pounds this week on my middle I will compensate....

Wow I have been trying to cut the weight but I am at about 17.25 pounds as a base, about 6.5 on food. Figure I will be 30 total with water. Guess I need to start working on it more lol

Skygzr, that ridgerunner is awfully comfortable. Totally worth the weight.

I'm increasing my insulation, so I'll be back up to just under 12lbs for a base weight.

Missed another one!

I have been gone from the forum for nearly 6months and I missed this one due to some prior engagements and just lack of fitness to complete the hike at this time...but next time I hope to be in better shape time and physically!

no don't do it- the lower you go the lower the temps will go. stay positive. everyone should just bring a fleece blanket and that is it...

Yeahhhhh... And on Friday night everyone will huddle around a fire saying I should have brought my down gear.

Snore on. I justify the weight by stating the recovery of muscle after a long hike,due to a good nights sleep. One note of caution though,if you try to pee over the side on a cold windy night to save heat, you will pee in your saddle bag when it blows up in front of you.
Any plans for hiking pole spreader bars?

Scary thought. I'm bringing my down lol. Might even get cold enough to use it. Although friday looks like it may have excessive humidity
