    Blackbird UQ Choices?

I was just wondering what some of you have found that you like for an underquilt on the black bird. I used a pad on my first trip, but it definitely took away from some of the comfort in the hammock (still ridiculously comfortable). I usually camp in cool weather, less in the 30s, but cold weather camping is intriguing as well. I would like a full length 0 or 20 degree is kind of what I'm thinking. I used a 0 bag this year and was actually to warm on our second night and removed my stocking cap in the middle of the night, so maybe the 20 for regular camping and I could pair it with my pad if I decide to try the real cold stuff?

Very new to hanging, I've spent 4 nights in one so far so there may be a lot of quilt companies I am unfamiliar with. I would like to stick with cottage vendors as I like small business and prefer giving them my business vs the mass production lines. You just don't get the kind of quality from most production based companies. Anyways, sorry for the long post and I look forward to ideas to look into. I'm trying to get ideas now so I can start saving pennies ;-)

alot of choices 4 ya. AHE is where I started( just had to sell cause of $ issues) I know hammock gear is one of the most saught after quilts, never seen 1 in person but real nice stuff. and the list goes on, Im sure you would be happy with any of the vendors here!! AHE is one of the cheapest and trust me the cheap is only related to the cost, mine was so well constructed! good luck

    Blackbird UQ Choices?

I use a AHE jarbidge on mine not the lightest or smallest packed but works great and you can not beat the price.

I started with a Hammock Gear 20* Incubator (fullength). Traded that and now use 3/4 length. Have a 0* Hammock Gear that took me into the -20's with a VB suit and 2 baselayers.
Also have a 20* Tewa which I love...so light. Have a used 40* Hammock Gear on its way to me right now.

I would say a quily from any of the vendors here will do ya just fine. If you arnt in a hurry keep your eye on the forsale forum...all my quilts are from members here...saved several hundred off new!

I started with a KAQ New River. It worked great and my son is stusing it with the wbbb now. I then swapped to the Inqubator to give down a try and loved it also. I am now using it with my XLC.

I started with pads and then switched to UQs. Have used AH Jarbrige's, HG Phoenix and Big Turtle FL UQ with my BB's

can you say you prefer one UQ over the others? Do you feel like I do that the pad takes out some of the comfort? mine is super thick so that may be where the takeaway may be coming from.

Another vote for the HG Incubator here... in my case the 20° version. Wonderful UQ, easy to adjust, feels almost insubstantial but very warm even without overstuff. Tested with a BB XLC 1.1 DL.

Edit: Incubator rigged on a BB...
