    Secure loop knot for Amsteel

What's the most secure knot for making a permanent loop in 1/8 amsteel ?

Will a bowline slip when not loaded? Alpine Butterfly?

Needed for attaching descending rings to hammock for webbing suspension.

(Edit: I meant to say a permanent bight in the each end of a single length of amsteel)

Double fisherman's. I believe Brandon uses that on his WB's. You could also splice a continuous loop.

A triple fisherman's is the best choice for a knot.....but splicing it is about 100% better choice than that.

It will resist slipping a little better than the double....but I think you are right that Brandon uses a double. Leave a bit of a tail on the both sides of the knot so there is room for it to move a little when it's loaded.

Double fisherman's is what Brandon uses. That's what I used at first, I just keep looking at it and wondering...

I guess I could do locked brummels on both ends. It's a little tricky though.

    I'll try a triple fisherman's.

    Thanks,

Continuous loop is my vote. Looks better but doesn't hold any better than a double or triple fisherman's.

i like the locked brummel loop.
all of my whoopies have a locked brummel on their fixed ends. i put a 6" bury for a little extra security.

Have a look at the "double dragon". Never used it in Amsteel, but it's a great fixed loop knot.

    Knot #5 on that page.
