    AmSteel color suggestions?

I'm going to order 100-150' of AmSteel tomorrow for 2-3 hammocks along with a small spool of Zing-It for tarp lines. Any suggestions on colors for the AmSteel? I was thinking about getting two colors (orange and red ??) so I could easily tell the difference between the head end and the foot end of my hammocks.

    Thoughts?

I like the old school blue; looking at a couple hundred feet of it right now.

Check this thread out. Some of the thread deals with the different colors. Hope it helps.

Heres the available colors side by side...

They go, from bottom to top...

Orange, black, red, green, yellow. And then grey(silver) on the left and blue on the right.

    Thanks.

One more question, will Zing It Prussic Knots hold on AmSteel Blue or are the both too slippery? I know I read something about it here a few weeks ago, but I'm not finding the exact post.

I use a UCR, instead of the whoopie, which easily permits the use of colors. The two colors make it easier to identify the running end from the constrictor end. I went with green to attach to the hammock, and grey to run to the tree. IMO, however, the color really doesn't matter in terms of assisting the stealthy-ness. Long before anyone gets close enough to see the color of the thin Amsteel, they will have already seen the hammock and tarp.

I really like the grey. Its subtle. On the idea of 'knowing which end is which' i use the snakeskins to ID the head from the foot.

I assume you Yanks have heard the expression: "... head over heels ..." and the blond joke: "Why do blonds write TGIF on their shoes? So they know that Toes Go In First."

When I wrap my hammock, I always put the head-end skin, over-top of the foot end. I usually recite the things above a few times while doing it. I find it easy to remember.
    I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.
    I use Linux.
    I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!

I like the grey and black. Blends in better.

If you use two different colors of Amsteel, you could say "Red's for the Head, Blue's for the Shoes"
