I bring a blue CCF pad (I picked it up at REI for not much $) that I cut in half and then I also bought a decent sleeping bag (off craigslist) that I modified by reducing the length in half (sewed up the edges so the nylon doesn't keep fraying). I have Ridgebacks that I camp with and like your Bailey - they are very-short haired and love to be covered up with the sleeping bag. I also bring along a sweater for them. They have their own pack and most everything fits in it neatly. I carry the CCF pad.
Just like 2ply and theguywitheyebrows I tie a line between two trees and then hook Huck's leash to it. He never really gets tangled in the guylines. I also have his bed directly under mine so I can reach down and check on him or cover him up if he gets restless.
Hope those suggestions help. Have fun! And prepare for a little whining. 2 out of my 3 ridgie's like to camp. The other one is pretty unhappy about going out.
Have fun!
