    How do you whip it?

I'm trying to figure out what type of hammock setup I want to make. I know nothing about whipping it though. To me its just tying a string and hanging it up. So, my question is...How do you whip and hang your hammock? I want something that will keep the sides tight and make a very comfortable "pocket" for me to lay flat in. Anyhow, please, if you have a "special" way of whipping and hanging...let me know! Thanks for your help!
    God Bless,

Kyle there are several ways of whipping the ends. Just Jeff's site has the best instruction. http://www.tothewoods.net/HomemadeHammock2.html
Some people experimented with different folds trying to make it more asym. Every time I tried I would get an uncomfortable ridge in the back. So now I just fold it with 1 inch zigzag, pull the ends out about 2 inches and wire tie it. The good news is if you experiment a little it is easy to redo it with the wire ties. Just put a larks head on the support line until you get it the way you like it.

Also you seem to be working on alot of hammock projects lately. Let me warn you there are some people here that are a little addicted. Be careful or you will wind up all strung out (and up) like Grizz. If you find it is interfearing with you work, or family life it may be time to ease up a little. Too much of a good thing can still be bad.

Truer words have never been typed!

back on topic...I like the "modified W" fold or the Hennessey fold. I think the Hennessey fold creates a little more of a foot pocket than the modified W does.

I tie the Hennessey fold the same way outlined in the cloned hennessey thread but I don't sew the ends together first. The modified W I think is VERY close to the Hennessey fold and I have found that when I pull the middle (not the sides) out a bit it creates a nice knee hump and better foot pocket. I think the modified W with the middle pulled out a little is just as comfortable as the Hennessey fold; but it has to be just right to get the middle comfortable.

I know that it is off topic, but the last two post have been the funniest on this forum in a long time . I gotta catch my breath I'm still laughing.
