    Tarp Question

    Hi All
Have any of you had any experience with the 9x9 tarp from Guide Gear? the size seems to be ok and the price looks good.

    Thanks

It's not bad for the money. Aside from that though, it's heavy, it's bulky, and its coverage isn't ideal because of the shape. It also doesn't pitch very tightly for a cat-cut tarp.

    Hi
Yes I thought it was a little heavy too.
I'd like to make one of yours but I am worried about my skills or lack there of
Plus getting the Silnylon sent over to Australia.
    Thanks

Talk to Ed Speer about the sil...he's a great guy and he might well work with you.

I have one of the Gear Guide tarps, known around here as the neo tarp, and it does great. Yeah it's a little heavy and it does have some sag issues, but I used it on about a dozen outings and it kept me dry and comfortable. You can't beat it for the price.

you ever use all of the tie outs on the side. Most pics show only using the one in the center and not the one to either side. That would take a lot of or all of the sag out and really isn't any more lines than a cat-cut tarp

Honestly, no I haven't. It would probably go a long way in reducing any sag issues.

As Blackbishop said, try making one. Ed Speer has quality material and ships to Australia no worries. Just bought some silnylon form him and only took 6 days to arrive. He's very easy to deal with, top bloke.

I have one. It is hard to beat for the price. I use my BlackCat tarp and loan the Neo tarp out to company. The coverage has always been plenty enough.

That's the exact same thing I do with mine. I do have 2 complete setups so I'm all the time trying to get someone to go on an outing with me and try out hammock camping.
