Video Alert: 2011 Henson/Fantasy Creek Loop (Rat Mischief)

The 2011 Gorge Rat Gathering at Linville was a big hit. I didn't get to spend all the time there I'd planned, but had a great time. On Thursday 8 of us made the loop down through Henson Canyon, across the foot of Westface Wall and up Fantasy Creek and Canyon. Great trip with a good bunch of Rats. 5 of the group stayed in for the night on Midcliff Ridge. Hammock camping made it possible in a thick jungle-like area.

Here are a few clips from that trip. Started at BRT and made the loop through Huckleberry, Red, Henson, Westface, Fantasy, Windy Point, Lower Cross, and Midcliff trails. Jimd, TZBrown, Mtncmpr, Carolinasbackerpacker and Puf camped on Midcliff Ridge. Wigg, Hangin' Buritto and I came out Midcliff to Yellow Brick Road and back to the cars.

Thanks Ken! That was alot of fun with you and the rest of the Rats that day.
I thought sure we were gonna get rain. I'm sure glad we didn't on that trail, huh?
Looking forward to hiking again with you soon, maybe doing L.O.S.T. this winter?

Will do HB! You would love that one too. Different, but still rugged.

Thanks Michael. TZ is an impressive person all the way around. Wish I could handle myself in the woods more like him. Always a pleasure to be around, and he did great in the rough stuff.

    Great Video Ken

I really enjoyed exploring that area with you guys

Wet leaves on wet rocks can be a bit slick. Causing an "on all four's" approach to some areas though

Thanks TZ. It sure was great to get out there and hike with you and the others. It can be a treacherous area, but one that is hard to stay away from...
