DIY camp table

I bought one because frankly, I have to. I ain't easy getting old sometimes. Today at lunch I had an idea and below are the results. When I'm in my hammock, I thought it would be nice ot have a platform to cook breakfast and when it's raining and I'm caught in my hammock, I have a nice "high and dry" spot to cook. I know it's a luxury but it's a small weight tax on top of the chair.

I went by a local sign shop and bought piece of Coroplast. It's basically what political signs are made of. Corrigated, hollow core plastic board for $4. The rest, I already had. I don't have scales but I'm guessing the weight at 5-6 ounces. I will add a spot (6x6) of aluminum tape (from making pot coozies) for a base for when I prime my alky stove.

perfect plaunius, I just bought 2 of those stools at an estate sale, marked $1.00 but were half off. The leg caps were $1.50 @ Lowes. Has LA Raiders on the seat, will probably change that. But this table is perfect, was planning on giving the 2nd away. Be nice to have table & stool @ about 3lbs. I carried one last spring straped to the pack but the GDaughter got it! Thanks for the idea.

This is a pretty neat idea. But come on, a camp table. Who wants to take a camp table with them into the woods.

Now a meal platform/night stand/card table/food prep table/mini Mr. fix-it camp work station on the other hand is a great multi-use item in the woods.

Hummm...Ok, I'll rename it the M.P.N.S.C.T.F.P.M.M.F.C.W.S. or MPNSCTFPMMFCWS for short.

I'd guess that after a trip or two, I'd have to take it apart, cut a new piece of Coroplast and remake it with the same hardware due to it warping. I used about 2/3 of that $4 sheet. Next time I'll get a larger piece for $6 and see if I can get 2 uses out of it.

Sweet! I'm always looking for a stump or log at camp time. I found/hung over big rocks before to use as a table. I may throw something together using your idea for if I'm close to the car. NICE idea!

So the coroplast doesn't hold up well? What about replacing it with laminated corrugated cord board? Or maybe even laminating the coroplast to add a little bit more durability.

I don't know that it won't hold up, I'm just guessing. My though was that if I put it in my ULA and then pack it, it may end up bowed. I may be able to solve that by adding a couple loops of guyline and tying it to the outside of my pack.

Good idea about laminating it. I could use the Tyvek tape on the top except the small spot where I use aluminum tape. I'd have to see what that would do to the weight.
