what types of tarps are most using for having a camp tarp (for cooking, hanging out with a group, etc) as opposed to covering your hammock

I use the cheapo blue poly tarps. The large ones like you can get a Wal-Mart.

It is a beast, the diagonal is over 22', and over 250sf, it can be challenging findings spot large enough to set up, sometimes you have to get the ridgelines super high up on the tree to get a good hang. But once it's up, it's kinda like the superdome!

I use a Wilderness Logics Wild River tarp. Marty made it to my specs to serve as our group tarp on river rafting trips. It's awesome.

Here's a picture from our Salmon river trip in July. We combined the Wild River and a WL Big Daddy to shade our group area and river kitchen.

i have a Noah 16 that I thought about setting up once but it was too big. I am thinking that I should have gotten a smaller tarp. I did not have enough rope to make it to the trees and I did not have any poles.

I might considering selling it to you if you are interested. I only unfolded it one time. I have never hung it up because it is so big.

I have a guide gear. It works great big enough that you can make one wall and have a roof to cover you.
