Wild Mike here ... well wildmike4 was the only one close enough. I joined awhile ago and then life got in the way. Now I'm back and have just bought a Skeeter Beater Pro from heescha (I hope it's on it's way).

I'm going to be 57 this Sept and am a Scoutmaster for a small troop of 5 boys. We camp once a month and I've been thinking for awhile now that hammock camping looks comfy and easy to set up camp with. For a long time I used a large Coleman Tent with a cot for my sleeping shelter (well I still have them). then a couple of years a built a small sleeping Teardrop trailer that I used for 2 summer camps. I sold it this year and took the plunge into the wonderful world of hammock camping.

I purchased the material to make a tarp (OK and also the Wallyworld nylon to make a hammock with, but with the price of the SBPro it wasn't worth making it.) so the tarp will be my first project.

I have met with Canoebie and hopefully I'll make the Midwest Paddle trip he and the group are planning.

So ... that's me ... well that's only part of me ... buha ha ha haaaa

I lurked around for several weeks just to absorb it all in. A lot of my outstanding questions were answered in posts and I found if I took the time to read, I could answer questions I didn't even know I had. I hope to be able to share knowledge in the future, but as of now... I still have a long way to go. I have only made a DIY Speer type but haven't had the time to use it and I still have many project ideas in mind.

A HUGE thanks to all the members of this forum for making it such a welcoming and informative (not to mention addicting) place.

I lurked for a day or two then I registered. I went hiking/camping in CO a few weekends ago and all the other guys were hanging except me...I was in my tent. Now I want to hang! Trying to figure out which hammock is best for me.

    Well said.

I've been lurking for about a year but I'm in the process of building my first two hammocks (one for me and one for the wife) based on HC4U's HH clone instructions.

SAVE YOURSELVES!!!!! This forum fosters do-it-yourselve projects, ownership of multiple hammocks, quilts, tarps and water purifiers not to mention driving a person to leave his happy home and 'head for the hills.' It's great. Welcome to you all. Mule

I have just joined this month, asked a few questions, got good answers, I, like a few others are a bit physically challanged and have been lurking here to learn all I can. Ground dweller now for 43 years and I have found it difficult this last year to get out of my sleeping bag and up without experienceing some pain or discomfort and this spring fell and broke my camping buddies tent..He then went and bought a camper..not for me...I need the moon, the stars the crickets and the tree frogs...I have a hammock coming this week and gonna test the waters, so to speak, I actually hope it rains, after I set up and get comfortable, so I can listen to the rain hit the tarp and be warm and dry...wish me luck...

Welcome lurkers, present and future! Please don't be shy about posting..that's the only way you'll get your previously-unseen questions answered.
