I would love to see a hammock made of that material. I don't want one but would love to see it.

I will be ordering charcoal grey and industrial orange material soon to make myself a two-toned car-camping hammock and tarp. Love those colors together if you cant tell by my avatar...lol

As for backpacking hammocks, I used to not care but more and more I like earth tone colors to help blend into the background. People really like to walk into your camp to check out what a hammock shelter is. I dont mind socializing with people and actually welcome it but I have had a few awkward moments before with people walking up to my hammock unexpectedly. One moment you're taking a nap and then "HELLO there, mister. What is this thing?"

Rambo on the prowl. Seems to be certain segments of LEO's and civilians that take it that way. Like it or not. Don't shoot the messenger.
    YMMV

I'm a blender, too. I go with olive/dark brown for my hammock and tarp, and those colors plus dark blue, sage, and black, mostly for clothes. That said, I do carry a little orange, especially in hunting season: bandanna, turtle fur cap, and may add an orange pack cover, as I would rather be considered a dear than a deer.

Interesting posts. I do my Hanging on the West Coast, Nortwest Coast, I feel like almost every thing is a shade of green/brown or black. Those are the colors people wear, the prefered colors for their gear. Heaven forbid I conform, I am really ready to get rid of my blend in colors.

However, there is the fact that I am female and travel with my daughter, I have found that it frequently is in my best interest to be almost invisible, kind of the old "Stranger Danger" mind set. There is also the problem of being seen if I should want to be seen, such as if I am having a minor medical emergency.

My latest fix is a very bright happy yellow/aztec gold top quilt, I bet it could be seen form outer space. I have just finished a white rainfly, I will use it primarily in snow conditions, I think it will blind me, maybe not, I will definately sleep with a sleep mask on.

Wild colors, make gear less likely to be stolen, it does in my opinion take away from the reason most of us go into the wilds.

No real answers, just personal options, taste and needs. Maybe buy one in each color, then you can pick and choose via your mood for any given adventure. LOL

I'm what I call an ultralight-leaning traditionalist... no issues with most new fabrics and materials, but still like to blend into the woods (though I own no camo gear, not even for hunting, except a USGI poncho. That may change as I get more into bowhunting, but that's a different topic).

Most everything I have in the way of gear is some shade of black, brown, tan, green, or neutral/gray. Exceptions are small easily lost items that go in my subdued-colored pockets: lighter, whistle, notebook. I also keep my camera in blue waterproof sack so I don't misplace it, and my "catch-all" bag for my other little odd bits of gear (compass, headlamp, repair and first aid kits, etc) is kinda dull orange. I have a few zipper pulls that are reflective cord (so I can find them in the dark), and one (of 6) tarp tie-outs is reflective line (helps ID my spot, but not overdone.) I have a blaze orange stocking cap (for hunting and for when I might actually WANT to be found). My sleeping bag is dark blue and black. When my daughter was younger, I got her a bright yellow fleece so I could keep track of her whereabouts better.

It's all about personal choice, I prefer to keep bright colors to a min outside the hammock but you certainly can jazz it up inside the hammock all you want....

Here's my flavor of the day, full camo kit...
