No tarp - my own weather forcefield

It's official...I generate my own weather forcefield that keeps all precipitation away. Over the past 6 years or so I can only remember one time where I had to hike in the rain. And only a few more where it rained at any point during a trip (usually overnight). Same goes for my upcoming trip which looks absolutely perfect!

Thursday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph.

Thursday Night
A slight chance of rain after 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday
Partly sunny, with a high near 55.

Friday Night
Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.

Saturday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 53.

Saturday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 36.

Sunday
Sunny, with a high near 52.

That's crazy. NOT COMPLAINING THOUGH But I would like to get a little more sitting-under-the-tarp-in-the-rain time eventually. This is why I like having two tarps; the lighter hex without doors will definitely come this time.

You gotta start selling these. Seriously, 12' with doors at only 0.7 ounce with skins ? Cuben fiber is so last year. You could call it "The Emperor's New Tarp".

i don't mind the rain as much as i despise windy days. i've canceled trips because it was too windy (gusts 40+mph, sustained 15+). i'll take rain over wind any day.

Yeah totally jinxed myself now!

I do feel more susceptible to the wind lately. I think I always do in spring after coming out of winter where I always use my tarp with doors.

At these temps (35-55) the wind can have a bite; I'm glad it will be on the low side.

Come hike in the South for a few days. We've had over 8" of rain this month and climbing. We've not had a rain free weekend this YEAR! We are supposed to have our first sunny weekend of the year this weekend.

You simply apply some moisture to the end of the finger. If it is cold then:



Nix the trip. Stay home and watch the Pelicans win if the wind is from the south, or the Raptors if the wind is from the north.
