Awesome trip and account of your adventure. I had a great time on that trail earlier this year as well.
10 lbs of food for 9 days sounds like a weight loss plan....You must have been stealing some snickers from your hiking buds!
I just bailed on Wednesday from our WT attempt. Rain and snow for ten days was not my idea of a good time...not to mention I got slightly hypothermic no Sunday. Trail report coming this weekend...but the good news....lots of places to hang a hammock!

The book: 'NOLS Cookery' is a great addition to my bookshelf, and it's been there in one form or another for 30 yrs or so.
The 'Ration Planning' section has the following guidelines...(all for 1 person, one day)
1.5 lbs =2500-3000 cal For hot days and warm nights, trips with children and camp/leisure days
1.75-2 lbs = 3000-3500 cal Ideal for moderate to active days...
You get the picture....
The NOLS Cookery book has LOTS of good info as well as recipes that really work, though some require a 'dutch oven' or similar - which I won't carry, or a small wood fire, which I won't use.
Anyway, a recommended book IMO.
The engine won't run without decent quality and quantity of FUEL!
The forecast this weekend definitely confirms my decision! Rather be safe than on the news!
