Fixed it. Heck, a wooden ring in there before held over 900 lbs. I thought it was plastic, but i could see where the rope crushed it a little. I figured maybe the biner would be ok, since it wouldn't be pulled open, just used as something to whip over. But you guys are right, I got out the good ones. 2500 kg. Now I gotta buy new climbing carabiners. Sheesh it's a bummer tryin to save a few bucks.

Yes, but price-wise the good ones will last for many years, whereas the cheaper ones would need replacing quite often... so you will get good value from paying a tiny bit more. Not to mention the peace of mind you will also be purchasing.

I got stories too, lol. I bought some 10,000# load welded 2" rings, they mount in manbaskets and JLG's for fall protection. Now I need some new polypro rope.

I use biners rated for climbing. I wouldn't trust anything else. Zoomed in on your picture and could make out "Not For" and I assume the 3rd word is 'climbing'.

my metolious micro biners are rated to 4950lbs, or 22kn.

Edelrid makes a gear biner rated to 1433lbf that weigts 13g , it's what i have been using since i got my BB without a problem so far.
They are also a lot cheaper than lightweight climbing biners @ 3-4€ each.
I'm sure they are available over the pond somehow aswell!

Treklite use to sell a "hammock" biner, not rated for climbing. I've used them for several years without issue.

Well, the ones in the photo didn't even have a catch pin. I should have looked at them better, but the setup is all good now.
