    Breakfast From the Hammock

This looks like a great idea, but as an almost religious bear-bagger, what are some tips. I always hang my food downwind and away from where I hang my hammock.
I would love to eat from the hammock for breakfast, just like Shug, but I am concerned about critters getting into my food.
Do you just eat dehydrated foods in a good airtight packaging to prevent a foo disappearing act?

    Food from the hammock

I always cook dinner away from where I sleep, but I cook breakfast in camp. I don't worry about breakfast because I'm packing up to leave anyway. I typically have something simple for breakfast like oatmeal in a freezer bag and tea.

I hang my food at night and just get up and go get it in the morn as I wet the dew.
Jump back in the hammock and enjoy some coffee and Pop Tarts.
    May not be for all.

+1 on the Shug approach. It's what I do. Be bear aware. Be smart.

Excellent. I couldn't imagine not bagging my food. I have to protect that stuff. It's valuable.

I can say I saw a bear ignore a baggy of oatmeal sitting on a table. ;-) OTOH I fully agree with not having it handy while I'm asleep.

I never cook dinner in camp and always hang a bear bag away from camp.
In the mornings I will partially pack up, get the bear bad and cook breakfast FBC in camp.
But I will immediately hit the trail after breakfast.

Also, I never camp in designated camps/shelters - just somewhere random, off the trail.
I figure the bear, rats, opossums, etc know more about those shelters than I do.

Yep ... why worry about the next person to hang at that site?
