29 degrees this morning in Bloomington, with a first heavy frost..leaves are late in changing,,but the frost will increase the colors immensely. Timing for the hang this year is perfect for autumn colors. Mule,,rcam1977, put me back on the list. Got the kids coming over and staying with the wife while I can hang. Hey,,just for kicks and giggles,,had a very nice large racked 8 point buck standing in the yard this morning at 7:45am.

I am not able to attend the hang. I have an invite to go to Red River Gorge. It's hard to turn down the Gorge. Sorry for any inconvenience. I hope to meet everyone at the next hang.
The worst backpacking trip I ever went on was still pretty good.

Ron, I haven't been there for a couple of weeks, but it was dry then. I was in Morgan Monroe State Forest last weekend and it was pretty dry there. I would plan on packing water in.

Just for those that have never been there. It would be good to show the route via a Topo Map to the Location of the hang as well as any important Directions getting to it.

I looked through the threads enough to piece together that we were going to be off of The Sycamore Trail in the Charles Deam at or Near Crescent Valley.

I have a attached a Map, anyone with more knowledge then I mind Adding the route to that map as well as any important details Like Park here or here, turn left at the big rock that looks like Hoot. Please?

It will depend on what the 80% chance of rain tonight actually ends up being. There is a pond on top of the spur that comes down between the two creeks, about a 20 minute hike due north. I am putting several liters of extra water in my trunk in case I need to hike out and get some.
Predictions are risky, especially when it comes to the future.

This may not be what you want . Its a copy of a post I made elsewhere . Off to the left of the Google earth map is the water tower .

Trying to find myself a little shorter route into a planned outing down in the Hoosier National Forest .

Looking at Google earth no problem scaling that bluff to the sight .

Topo maps tell a differant story . Contour lines fading into solid brown is always a bad sign .

What can I say . I like to play with maps . Bad news when all your contour lines join together to make one brown smudge . That usually means a cliff .

New alternate trail based on topo .

Its just very steep hills with trees on them. No rock walls or anything like that. Very steep tho. Play like your a billy goat.
