Added myself and my brother to the list.

Probably arrive, Saturday morning and hike the northern half of the Dutchman's Creek/ Uwharrie segments and get back to Yates that evening. I've done the loop forwards and backwards, I'll be happy to do it with just a day pack load this time .

I did find my gold pan but with average lows in the upper 30's I suspect it will be too cold to play around much with that.

I don't mind donating for firewood. I'll bring the Gransfors Bruks to help process some too.

I MAY be able to bring a large dutch oven. I'm not sure if that's going to help or not if I'm not there till at least 'second breakfast'. If I bring something to cook Sunday morning, will someone have a decent cooler with space to keep it in Saturday night?
I don't trust my small Coleman for more than chilling drinks for an afternoon.

In the mean time, I hope to put together my first HikingDad bridge hammock and use it.

Also HAVE to toss together the Wilderness Chair though the tripod might be a bit big for around the camp fire.

Would love to attend this hang since the area is so nice. Have another commitment that weekend. I know all who attend will have a great time.
    Straight out of Clayton.

Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.

I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.

glad to have ya, as long as the weather isn't weathering I am game for the 30's. I will try and bring waterproof footwear and gloves. I need to find my 401k.
I am bringing my Dutch oven, and most people who plan on cooking with one bring there own so I would say unless you plan on using it, not to worry about it. Or just keep it in the car. I van is usually filled with all sorts of stuff I never use.
I usually have extra chairs if you need one.

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the forum and the group hang thing. This sounds like a good time and I'm pretty close by (I'm in Roanoke but my family is in Reidsville, NC). I'm not quite sure how these things work or what I would need to bring as far food for the group and whatnot. If you could give me something specific to bring that would help a lot.
Might try to drag one of my non-hanger friends along too!

It seems we have a good amount of food. This year its a breakfast and second breakfast kind of thing. I would check the spread sheet and see if there is something you would like to add to your breakfast. What do you like to eat? make hash browns, bring bagels, tortillas for breakfast burritos, huge cuts of NY strips and filet. Make pancakes, bring a waffle makers or french toast. This is a casual kind of hang. We usually eat very well. Ground dwellers are more then welcome its a national park it belongs to us all.

    Sounds good...I'll figure something out.
And I didn't mean they'd be in a tent...I have an extra HH so it would be more of an Intro to Hammocks 101 haha

I just meant that they prefer ground dwelling or lets just say they are hammock campers that don't know it yet.

so would you all laugh at a new guy if he showed up to this hang and broke out a blue utility tarp? This is basicly a car camping event right? Meaning no worries about the weight/bulk of a blue tarp. I am planning to get a superfly but it is likely not going to happen before the hang. Might just sleep under the stars without a tarp if the weather looks good and set up my tent close by in case it gets wet.

My first hang I had a 16'x20' blue tarp from walmart. Over me and my son side by side.
Nobody laughed, actually they help me hang it. I hope the weather is good for my gold panning.
