No, butt I still can at any time. Wasn't really worried about they weight because one of the complaints about these jackets was the tiny zippers. Seam ripping is a pain to me also.

Here is my mod. I added climashield armpit patches to help extend the sleeves. Added grosgrain around the arm opening. Added 4 grosgrain loops and shock cord to hold them on. Wear them over or under your vest.[/QUOTE]
    Awesome! I'll have 2 sets

I couldn't stand it and had to try an indoor hang! I put 4 grip clips on the ends just to try it out with my ahe triangle thingies. It wrapped around me and the wbbb like a warm jacket Maybe I can finish it tonight and get the shock cord added. This could easily be turned into a peapod for someone not quite as hefty as me. Pic is of empty hammock of course but it can be done.

The shock cord will make a big difference. I will have to see if I can find a couple of those XXL jackets or vests. You did and awesome job.

That is really very good DIY! I saw those at the local JCP's, and saw that they were down filled, but you really took it to the next level! Great thread, and good thinking!

Just a little jealous, though, that I didn't think of that...

Thanks for posting your pictures and idea

What temp do you expect to reach with the under quilt? I purchased a 4XLT size in orange and was thinking of using it as a summer UQ. My plan is to open a seam on the shoulders so that the front will open all the way to create (hopefully) a flatter-rectangularish shape. Then snaps or Velcro could be used to get it back into jacket duty. For the arms I was thinking of just tucking them inside for more insulation if needed.

This is awesome! Thank you for keeping us up to speed. I just got my seem ripper and a red xxl jacket. Going to make some sleeves at first.

What width grosgrain did you use on the sleeves? I bought 3/8 and 5/8....

Then I will attempt an uq. Perfect 2/3 uq for probably 35 - 40 degrees.

I just picked up the last two 4xl jackets at my local JCP. Thanks for the heads up!
