After careful consideration, I've decided NOT to endorse your trip. haha. Seriously though, the forecast looks brutal-especially with the wind. I think I could handle the temperature, but that kind of wind and wind chill is dangerous and probably not the place to test my gear. I may loose my sense of self preservation and join you at overmountain, but I'm thinking I'll be waiting on the next trip--maybe something a little warmer. Look forward to hearing the trip reports. Be careful.

That is exactly what I though last year but it was one of my more memorable trips. I was warm and toasty at night but I hung around camp Saturday with three others and the 40 mph wind was miserable but I lived to tell (brag) about it.

Tomorrow and tomorrow night are the harshest part. Come hang with us tonight at RHK and bolt at Carvers Gap tomorrow morning. That could give you a decent test without being as cold as the next day.

What about the road down from Carvers Gap Saturday morning? I wonder what it will be like.

With the amount of snow predicted, *should* be ok. Hard to tell.

If it is flat out nasty, Id consider driving to the lower trailhead Friday morning and hiking the shorter route to overmountain. It's all fun, but no need to be stupid.

I'm on 26 in JC now.

Looks like the wind will be the real problem going to get some snow too. Wind looks like it is going to be crazy. Fri night into Sat.
