In stead of whipping if I wanted a more finished look on the end would it be possible to sew a section of tubular nylon webbing in the ends and simply pass the support line thru it? Would it hold?

It's not clear to me from your description what you mean.
I will caution you that nylon webbing (even the tubular sort), by design, stretches.

i really wanted to do something for the ends other than whipping them like end of the Claytor's JUNGLE HAMMOCK
