O&B, I'm having trouble getting free the week between the holidays. (schedule rotations at work are that week.) If I can't make that weekend, I will have to try to hook up with you another time.

I think I'm going to have to just head that way one weekend and see what happens. Fishing or no fishing, I'm going to make over there one of these days.

OutandBack,
Didn't mean to bash on your plans at all, the above was what I was worried about as well. I did the Buffalo Peaks (up HWY 285 as well) loop early this September thinking I was going to get summer like weather. Instead we got snow and was below 29 degrees at night. I was just a bit concerned about having people with mixed winter survival skills in a situation that might turn ugly fast. Anyways, let's hope for good weather and I would love to be there with you guys!
P.S. -2 this morning did not feel great!
Hi Joe, I didn't take your post as bashing sorry my response came across that way.
Everyone that has signed up/confirmed so far has attended this outing in the past.
This will be my 4th year of offering this trip to fellow hangers.
Usually if there is a new guy that I am pretty sure is going I will contact them via PM and or phone
to let them know what to expect and if I have any gear they might need.
I believe we have 5 confirmed right now some have not posted but I had talked to them on the phone.
If we get good weather this place really is a treat. Let's hope the snow storm hits Christmas Eve.
Looking forward to meeting you.
You said you were going to show-shoe in with a sled right? What do you think about this setup:
1) Full length pole set from here: http://skipulk.com/index.php/product...nd-accessories
2) and the Paris Expedition sled from McGuckins: http://www.amazon.com/Erapro-Paris-9.../dp/B000YD6J30
Have any insights on ski pulks?
Hi Joe,
I use the skipulk poles and belt. Very heavy duty excellent quality.
On the sled it is hard to see how thick or durable the plastic is.
I use this one.

On snowshoes it just depends on how much snow is up there.
Winter hiking boots might be all that is needed.
@Mugen, maybe next year.
Hi all,
Just stumbled across this post. Which direction on the trail from the parking lot are you guys headed? Im assuming your all parking at the main lot on top of kanosha. Ive hiked sections 4 & 5. Is this still a go for the 27-29th?
Im interested in at least coming out for at least a day and possibly a night!
Thanks!
Hi corbano, Welcome to the forum.
We will be parking on the West side of the road at the top of the pass.
It's the TH for seg 6 of the CT. I posted a map one one of these pages.
So far we are still watching the weather and hoping for the calm after the next snow storm.
I will post if the trip is on or off based on the weather Christmas day.
