Go to the office and ask for the annual pass. ($25) If you go to the state parks more than 5 times a year, then you will save a bunch of money. If you are into camping, you probably will then.

I think zoo is snagging the camp fee, so don't worry about it when you get there. We can just divvy it up at the campfire which shouldn't be more than a couple bucks each.

Also, the reason for the fees is to help maintain the parks and is one of the reasons Minnesota has some of the best parks in the country.

Okay, thanks. I don't mind a bit as long as it all goes to the upkeep of the parks. I love that it's so close, too.

Ahh, it's a mad scramble to get everything I need for tomorrow! GTUL came wednesday, but I was a little surprised that it came with no suspension! So after class I'm going to see what Midwest Mountaineering has in stock. I still need tree straps, a couple foam pads and reflector, and a cheap tarp (since I've been told my old tent fly won't serve).

Update: Not going to bring Kiba tomorrow. Things will probably be wet and sloppy and I don't want to sleep with a dirty dog.

I am bringing wet wipes and a pack towel for Tobie, can bring extras if you want some for Kiba.

I'm just going to leave her at home, but thank you.

We went for a really quick hike today and she got absolutely filthy with all the muck on the trail. We didn't even do 1/4 mile.

There are a few ways to get out there from where you are, depends on if you want to lolly gag or not. Just use google maps and in the search tab put "Afton State Park". Then "get directions" and put in your address.

I guess I was wondering if the there was ample signage once I get close. Google maps doesn't always do the best job getting me to the right place.
