    OverCover Mod?

    Just wondering...

Would it be possible to make a HH overcover with a zipper that could mesh with the zipper mod #2? When the weather gets cold you would roll up the bugnet to one side and zip on the overcover. Perhaps with clips that could hook on to the bugnet ties to hold down that side.

No reason why it shouldn't work...unless the zipper on the short side doesn't unzip fully.

The zipper mods use a non-seperating zipper you will not have a way to start the overcover zipper onto it.

I'm pretty sure the long side zip has to come apart so you can flip it over and roll it up...it's the short side that I'm unsure of.

The long & short sides unzip away from each other allowing the net to flip out of the way but at the ends where the zipper slide would need to be started onto the chain ZQ puts a silver stopper that keeps the slide from coming off.

What about a new mod where the bugnet zips all the way off and an overcover zips on instead, for cold weather use.

That has been kicked around several times by many folks trying to create the most flexible system for bugnetting and topcover. The problem is always the same. The zipper required to do the job. It has to be a "separating zipper" of just the right length. There isn't anyone making separating zippers of the correct length....that we have found. Furthermore, there are many different length hammocks involved. A separating zipper has a molded on "starting finger" that is put on the zipper tape at the factory and we cannot reproduce it. Some have tried, but they fail miserably. If that could be figured out.....then there is a possibility of making any length zipper
we would need from a bulk roll of zipper.

Well, that's the issue. We are all waiting for a vendor to announce a
custom length separating zipper. Until then.......

    The zipper issue makes sense.

Still, the mod makes sense for HH owners with the hennesey overcover. Some folks report frost on their bug net. Having the ablity to roll it up and out of the way would likely eliminate that problem.
