Sorry, that thread is in the Member Area (Roundtable Off-Topic). Well-worth the $10 (I believe that is what membership costs)

Just a heads-up, the mods may determine this thread is not directly hammock related and move it there as well. They work hard to keep the general areas very hammock focused.

Scoutmaster of Troop 211 here in E. Helena Montana. Link doesn't work for me either. Not authorized to view. Currently have two leaders and 1 scout hanging. Looking at making some DIY hammocks with the rest of the boys.

I understand, I was hoping to keep it hammock stuff related just a scout bend on it.

Mods I leave it up to your discretion.

Guild to safe scouting; Prohibited chemical-fueled equipment—Equipment that is handcrafted, homemade, modified, or installed beyond the manufacturer’s stated design limitations or use. Examples include alcohol-burning “can” stoves, smudge pots, improperly installed heaters, and propane burners with their regulators removed.

3 of us hanging this past week at our base camp for day excursions in the Sierras. I have another 2 who have now started paying attention to how comfortable the hammocks are.

Yeah I had to search for it. I was thoroughly disappointed when I read that. However now that the kids have seen how to make them they now have the skill. Though we can't use them on a scouting event does not mean they personally can't use them. I have already heard of a scout with parental supervision cooked dinner on his.

Lol I have done more camping since January this year then I have in the last 10 years. I have done 17 nights since. I have at least that many nights for the rest of the year.

So how many have made hammocks with their troops. So we may be able to plan for this does anyone know what the cost per hammock run. It would be nice to be able to budget for it.

I'm a wolf scout den leader for my son's den. He just bridged to wolf, and TBH I couldn't do much with them when they were tigers because of rules and their age. Going to try to step it up a notch this coming year. My troop is in an urban area, and alot of the kids and leaders seem not to be into it. Hopefully I can motivate them Either way I believe the most important thing for scouts to learn early is respect. Too many troops allow the kids to act foolishly. Just my 2 cents
