We will have to plan a hike and hang for doing the FT/SR19 to Hidden pond, then out to Pat's island for a cooler time. That will be almost a whole day to do that stretch of FT. That's somewhere like 15-17 miles I think. And thru Farles Prairie with little water during Summer heat. Ouch.

I would also like a hike thru to Salt Springs. Changing campsites on a hike is always good practice to keep you from getting in a rut. Possibly starting at Salt Springs and going South to Alexander Springs. That way the last night at Alexander Springs, we can be with Timberrr and Gumbo.
From US 19 to Pat's Island used to be ~24 miles. With the reroute, it should be ~25 or 26. In that heat, it's pretty tough, and the section from Juniper Springs to Farles Lake is dry as far as I know--about 9 or 10 miles with the reroute. Bring plenty of water if you plan on that (that was the section I got heat stroke in a couple years ago, before the reroute).

On a less strenuous note, I'm definitely coming! See you all there!

That's exactly was I was thinking about as I was thinking of this section hike.

That's great to hear that your scheduling has been corrected. Now, how to get you there on Friday?

Well, lilricky has volunteered to pick me up Friday night after work. We should be in some time between two and four AM. I want to say THANK YOU to him for his generosity; he's leaving a comfortable hammock to hike an additional seven miles and drive almost four hours round trip just for my sorry behind.

If you've not met lilricky, let me put this in the plainest terms I can: he's GOOD PEOPLE.

    THANK YOU, lilricky!

That's a late night/early morning site selection. Please let us know where you want to hang your rig. Lilricky will already be set. Now, you pick the spot and I'll make sure the trees are ready for you.

lilricky is just one example of the caliber of Good People in this group. You are all masters of hospitality and friendship. I miss you guys...if I was going on this one, I'd share my NEW breakfast with you - freezer bag pancakes! I cut some thawed toaster pancakes into 6 pieces, then rehydrated them, added a bit of Molly McButter and some syrup...and had my new hiker breakfast, probably day one of our next AT section!

I plan to have plenty to share at the Florida Hang, if anyone's hungry!
