    Hammock safety young kid

My daughter is 5 years old. I want to make her a hammock one with a sewn in bug net. I would like to do a full size adult hammock. Is this smart is it to much for her to lay in. My consern is could se get tangled up in it during the night. Or shoud I make her a down sizes hammock for safety. Would love some thoughts on this or if any one is hammock camping young kids now what are your thoughts.

My 6 year old loves her Hennessy Scout. We have never had an issue of getting tangled. Here she is when she was 4 with her Scout zipper model.

My youngest was 7 his first time and won't go back. Ever. Lol
Be sure to sew that net on really well because there's a good chance that they will get that hammock upside down, just for fun.
Have a great time with her.

I have two 7 years olds that use DIY tablecloth hammocks on a regular basis.
Not to mention a pair of 12 yr olds.

Their hammocks 126"x60" and we use "Fronkey style" bug nets.

No concerns about tangling, but I will say that the kids treat them as "toys" or "swings" and often play in them.
This was the case when they were 6 years old as well.

Often there will be two or three in a hammock swinging away.
Or they will play "hammock wars" where each jumps in their hammock and they swing towards each other hollering "prepare to be boarded"!

Just last weekend two of them were playing away and then "plop" "plop", they were both on the ground laughing.
I put a foam mat underneath the hammock for them to take off their shoes, and use as a ground cloth, or landing pad as the case may be.

When the play gets a little carried away and they don't listen to the warning, it's just a matter of time before one hits the deck a little harder and they will hear, "have you had enough?" followed by a weakly uttered "yes".

They love their hammocks, had 3 of the kids out for an overnight in 40 degree weather last weekend. They love playing in them, but no worries about tangling.

My 6 year old has been using a full length 11ft hammock with zippered bug net since he was 4 and no problems.

Randy, I think your daughter, at 4 yrs. old, sets up her hammock faster than I do!

For a kid that age I've made hammocks from these; http://www.tableclothsfactory.com/category-s/150.htm . They have a better selection of girly colors than most too.

I bought two 84 inch rod pocket curtain panels with a shear panel already sewn on at the top. I sewed one side and the bottom and added a zipper to the remaining side so now I have one for each of my girls ages 2 and 4 with integrated bug nets. They are so excited fir this summer
