How are you attaching tarp end flaps

How are DIY people attaching end flaps to their larger tarps to block wind?

Velcro? Ties? I would prefer a technique that is removable. Any previous threads, pictures, or directions would also be greatly appreciated.

The last time I modified a tarp to put on a "door" I used hooks and loops you get for fastening clothing. I put the loops on the tarp and hooks on the door, so the permanent "carry along" impact on the tarp is minimized.

Grip clips ought to work well too, just need a larger margin on the door to accommodate the overlap on the tarp.

Thanks Grizz. Your answer is what I wanted. When I wrote that I wanted a technique that is removable, I should have written that I want the end flap "or door" to be removable. Keeping hooks, ties, or velcro on the tarp is fine. I just want to be able to leave door behind in summer or good weather. I don't want to sew door onto tarp.

DTE, I seem to remember a picture of some sweet doors you put on a large tarp. How did you attach them?

I attached the doors the old fashioned way...with thread. They roll up and tie back when the breeze is warm, dry, and wanted. I don't know what the weight penalty is since I did not do a before and after weigh-in. But, they should consume about 2-1/2 yds of 1.3 oz sil so they should weigh somewhere around 3 oz. Often, when I get all fired up for a project I realize that I was misguided, misdirected, mistaken, and just simply wrong. Not so with the doors...no DIYer's remorse. In fact, they perform better than anticipated. The first HH hex tarp that I put doors on was given to my son. So I put slightly shorter doors on its replacement...shorter due to a slight mismeasurement and subsequent cutting error. A small case of DIYer's remorse. I like the longer doors better. I have two HH hex tarps to go, but they are somewhere back in the middle of a long line of projects-in-waiting. Whatever...but I highly recommend doors...whether you sew them on, hook them on, stick them on, or hold them on with magic...seemingly a simple task for someone with such powerful weather predicting abilities. Found it ! (Did I ever mention that I was lazy.) Last question (not) -- did you just put doors at one end or both ends of your tarp?
