Great idea. It's true you learn something new everyday. (On this site anyway). Thanks for posting this. I carry a poncho and liner anyway. I may as well put it good use when I'm not wearing it.You just saved me a ton of $$$ for warm to cool weather camping.

hey mac what is the lowest you have used your wiggy's? I talked to the company yesterday, and they said that it should get down t 35 degrees. my GI surplus has got me down to about 43-45 degrees until I felt cold spots. was thinking of getting a wiggy's for light weight TQ.

In summer, all I use is the Wiggy's as a top quilt.

In winter, I use the Wiggy's as a top quilt in conjunction with a Speer FrogSac. The FrogSac is a summer weight no-snivler type thingie, which I use as a quilt, all unzipped except for the foot box. The FrogSac goes on the bottom, with the Wiggy's above that oriented diagonally (just as mclmm does when using it as an underquilt).

The pair is all I've ever used. Fully clothed, that rig has taken me to 10 degf.

I love mclmm's idea, but I'll probably never use the Wiggy's underneath my Thermadrape KAQ. It's just too easy to nest the KAQ Potomac there instead.

Looks like I'm headed down the the surplus store in the near future.

Quick question is the poncho liner made from the same stuff as M65 jacket liner?

Sure is. They're a good bit of gear.

Might try this set-up while I make up my mind (and come up with the cash) between a SS or DIY UQ.

    A couple questions:

Is the Wiggys much different than the military liners I'm seeing on-line for ~$15.00? Heavier? Warmer?

Does the Wiggys have more tie-outs. Most of the liners I'm seeing have only 4 tie-outs (one at each corner).

Where can I buy one? Google search came up with lots of chatter but none for sale.

    Thanks

    I found them: http://wiggys.com/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=197

I wrote to Wiggys and asked how many tie-outs were on there liners. Wouldn't be a big deal to sew your own if the stock liners come with only four.

Looks like a good deal for ~$45.00. Will probably grab one and experiment close to home with a pad, SB, and extra gear.

I'll let you all know what Wiggys has to say.

My Wiggy's poncho liner has 8 ties: on and between each corner.

It's a bit heavy, but I paid $27 two years ago. It's nicer than any new mil-surp liner.

The link in the previous post says the price is $75, but on the Specials page, it is $45.

I heard back from Wiggy today. 8 ties on the liner and ~$45.oo for the liner with ties. If you scroll down on the page from the link http://wiggys.com/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=197 and select the "choose style" arrow, you'll see the liner with ties for $45.00.

Just might give this a try while I muster the courage to make an UQ.

Anyone else have any experience with using these liners as an UQ? Use anything to supplement it? What kind of Temps?
