Pretty soon, I'll be offering Cuben tarps for sale.
Only specs that I am willing to share is that initially I will be offering the tarps in two weights: 15.8 g/m2 and 25.4 g/m2.
My tarps will come in three sizes to start -to be introduced at a later date.
Aside from the great weight savings these tarps will not require any seam sealing.

Keep me in mind PLEASE. I plan to do a hammock SUL trip with article for my site around the beginning of May. I've got the hammock set, but would like to use something other than a poncho tarp for the cover on the thing.
What dimensions are you looking for in a tarp? Rectangle or Cat cut?

no disrespect for all the cottage industries, I think they are very good for the hangers, and it aint for everone but for the DIYers. Cuben tarps are not dfficult to make. it is that the raw materials are kinda expensive and erratic to find. I have used one for what, 2-3 yrs now. I am sure that your handi work will be much better than mine, I tend to be pretty sloppy but most of my stuff seems to work, The (following all cuben).Hammock (working on my bridge, I think Grizz has a couple of these under his belt now, and he does excellent work!) pac, stuff sacs., barrier sewed under my uq, (for protedtion), chaps, rain hat, most any thing that rip can do cuben seems to work,pretty well It will puncture but a slap of duct tape and you are good to go. gnome
I'm not very picky. I've used both types successfully. I'm basically trying to use new stuff. I've done fine using a HH style diamond tarp, a cat tarp like WB Edge, and a long rectangle like the Etowah Outfitter 10' x 6'. That is why I was hoping to get an idea of what type of tarps you plan to make. If you are going to be making and selling some sort of standardized size, then most likely I would want to evaluate one of those so I could reference readers to where to buy the product.
This excites me b/c I have been wanting a lighter tarp. I would think one that covers the BB would be good. I have thought about making one that has a little more coverage at the BB footbox would be a great design and many BB owner would jump at it. So a tarp that has 2 tie out on one side and 3 on the other. Kind of an asym tarp. Keep us posted.

Out of curiosity what are the advantages of a Cuben tarp over a SpinnUL tarp?
even lighter.
