I personally like big hammocks. Mine is 10ftx5ft, but I'm also 6' and 215lbs. I do have one hammock that 4ft wide, but haven't had a chance to try it yet.

I prefer an 11x5 hammock body - that's the rough fabric size before end gathering. I've used from 9-12ft lengths, and really like the 11.

I'd say no shorter than 9' and no narrower than 4'. The 5'x10' that rigidpsycho posted is about perfect, IMO. At 5'7" you could probably be comfortable at 9' if you wanted to save 1-2 oz.

not worried about saving an oz or two just want one that is right for my hight and weight. any how i have just got the ripstop it cost $39 for 4 yards and got some car seat belts for tree straps.
