We are well within reality to claim 70-80, as long as we don't let it creep up too close to 100. I think though that we can safely claim a roughly 30% increase over last year, and that is very impressive. Well done us! Like a lot of you, I don't think we have hit our ceiling yet. FH3 = 100!

I like the "Numbers" we're seeing just fine. A well organized, large Group Hang. Stil fits well @Buck Lake, and so many different people to learn from.

It was my idea of a perfect long weekend!

I've already started making stuff for the raffle next year. I made a fully enclosing bugnet and a short hammock suitable for a child up to young teenager. A couple of full size hammocks are next on my list.

I don't know how many kids will attend next year, so I must make a few dozen just in case.
I'm thinking bamboo walking sticks with stopper on bottom and a few yards of fishing line and hook/bobber in the bottom cavity. I have a large one and my kids love it.
Sounds great Floridahanger. At the end of the hang I was annointed as CAC, Childrens Activity Coordinator, but all are welcome to join in. I've been doing some searching for some other ideas myself for next year. As far as the number attending, that was the one thing that concerned me last year. Didn't want to not have enough to go around. Also thinking about some woodscraft skills activities or show and tell. There's nothing better than exposing our youth to the great outdoors. Might even be able to bring one or both of my Granddaughters to FH3.

I spoke with him recently and he said things are much better. He is a busy dude so I imagine he just hasn't had much time to hop on the forum. I know he was really moved be the out pouring of concern by everyone and will surely appreciate you guys asking about him.

I know its one of the reasons I like this place so much. It was awesome to have "strangers" ask me all about my surgery and healing at the hang. Then I realized, there weren't any strangers there!! You guys are awesome peeps.
Look up before you hook up!!

It didn't quite get it to a boil but it was definitely hot enough for tea/rehydrating/oatmeal (what I used it for).

Everything worked well and I think that if I put my pot directly on the stove (my pot has a heat exchanger on the bottom so it allows air in) it would slow it down a bit for simmering. I put it directly on it for a while but it seemed to not heat as fast (I'm assuming using less fuel too) so I put it back on the stand to give it a bit more air.

I'll be bringing it to my next hang and getting some tips from the alky gurus on how to fine tune using it. It probably won't completely replace my wood burning stove (I love it and it is very handy) but I will definitely be using it from time to time.

Now that I think of it... I think I'll fire it up again and make some tea

    Thanks!

    Dave
Thanks for the feedback. 1oz should boil 2 cups of wawa with no problem. Pot with the heat exchanger may have a factor. I use a grease pot. Picked one up a at Kmart. Don't know if they carry them anymore. Its like the imusa mugs people are using. Using the windscreen helps direct heat to the pot. I wrap mine tight around the pot, sort of like the caldera cone but with out that cone effect. I have noticed, it reduces the boil times. Have fun playing and learning with it. Glad you gave it a try!
