13' tarp with an 11' foot hammock

So i am looking to get a 13' OMW for my wife an her ridge runner but was wondering how it would work if i were to use it with my 11' roaming gnome. I think i read somewhere that with such a long Ridge Line that it would effect the hang angle of the hammock

13' seems like overkill. Why not just get the 12'?

I am getting the 13' because this tarp will mainly be used by my wife, who sleeps in a ridge runner. 13' would let her use the tarp with a doors closed. Give her a bit more privacy which she likes.

Not sure if the RR is longer but my wife uses her BMBH from Jacks with a standard 11' Superfly. Doors close with no problems.

I have a friend with a RR. He uses a Superfly and it's fine, but 12' would be better. 13' is way overkill.

It may be overkill but im not concerned about that. What are the downfalls with a 13' tarp? This tarp would be used for car camping and float trips. If we decide to go hiking, i also have a cloudburst and superfly. im just looking for something huge for her that she can feel comfortable in.

If the load's not a problem then all that's left is the distance between trees. I guess maybe it could be a big sail if the winds are up.

The only downfall I see is if the trees are 12' apart. That's wide enough for a hammock but the tarp wouldn't fit. Other than that it should be great and roomy.

The issue you will come up against is the tarp will interfere with the hammock suspension requiring you to raise the tarp higher and that kind of defeats the whole privacy issue.

In this pict imagine the tarp being two feet longer.

The problem is you're limiting your site selection. Finding trees at least 15 feet or more apart can sometimes be an issue. At those distances, your hammock suspension also has to be hung higher.
