but at 1.7 if this is a winner i know some Dutch clips that just went on sale that would LOVE that line.
Trust me, I have no intentions of hanging from this without first knowing what it is, and second, having one of the experts on this forum, hanging from it first. Besides, I'm happy with the Amsteel I have.

could be spectra, technora or a Kevlar blend, they would have strength in the same range as amsteel. Ditto price.

This is something I don't have. So now I want it.
Please don't sell any of it to me... no matter how much I beg.

Click off this thread and slowly back away from the computer. It's string, it's only string.

the chain of West Marine stores sometimes have it.
I went in and asked for some 1/8 Amsteel and the guy asked me: "What do you need that for? To lift up the front end of your car?"

Plenty of places on line to get it, and you know what you are getting.
Try some of the ones here on the forum like Dutch, Arrowhead Equipment, etc.

I'm thinking that is might be a custom colour of dynaglide. It is usually listed at 1.8mm and 1000 pound break strength. However dynaglide is usually a bright lime green or a really bright orange colour.

    Cheers

Just for your future information...Zing It is normally found at arborist supply stores. It was developed as a throw line.

Get a weight-weenies scale and measure the 30 ft of it. Fiber strength is proportional to the mass of it (roughly +-10%). And some of this is coating, which has much less strength.

Weigh and report it. Divide by .3 and we'll know the weight per 100ft, which can be compared to that of other rated UHMWPE lines.

There is a recent SK-91 fiber which is nominally stronger than SK-75 used in Amsteel Blue. But, I think its significant improvement is a reduction in creep.

Color makes me think of the Vectran V12 I picked up for whoopie slings at WestMarine. I couldn't find it more expensive, or closer. It is smaller than Amsteel blue 12strand (which is half the price). 3 strands = 9mm.

West Marine says 1900 lbs, the manufacturer says 2100. I figure it'll hold me fine! Very little stretch once the splices take their set too. Stiff enough to not tangle easily and easy to splice.

Oh yeah, they have PDFs for different splices if you're interested.
