What a great video! I watched it from start to finish. It's definitely the first time I've seen anyone hang the WS AND the SRL BEFORE the hammock

Watch the video, the knot is very easy to tie, I now have them on everything sort of. As in the video it holds the continuous loop attacked to you hammock to the whoopie and diamond knot. I added them to the adjustable loop end on all my whoopie slings, (see picture) also for son and grandson's rigs. They are now on the ridge line ends, which makes it nice as you can use a larger loop and just squeeze it down with the slider. Just remember to not tie the knot to tight as you want it slide semi easily. It really helps make the MSH very safe and lets you fasten the whoopie on securely but easily removable.

I will definitely be grabbing some spare 550 cord to practice this. It does look very easy. I imagine I'll be doing this very soon, probably after I get my SRL

For those that don't like the bulkiness of a paracord solomon bar, GrizzlyAdams uses a whipping not that keeps it locked down and also prevents the whoopie from slipping back into itself--very sleek, very effective: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=34159 (he shows how to tie the whipping knot at the 3:30 mark).

Brainstorming here... do they make cordlocks big enough for amsteel? If so, unless I'm missing something you could just put one over the end of the whoopie, and snug it up against the msh.

Personally I use carabiners instead of toggles; might be a little heavier than a toggle, but IMO they're much more versatile/useful and I feel more secure with them!

I was just at Walmart today looking (unsuccessfully) for snap type grommets and saw a few cord locks. They looked large enough to me.

I use prussic knots on my whoopies and just slide it up the line to the marlin spike knot. Seems to work alright.

If there's more than one way to skin a cat, people here will discover all of them and document each thoroughly.

Replacing the spike of a MSH with a carabiner solves the problem. I have no stock in a carbiner company but received my Ti carabiners today and am thoroughly impressed. Ti is awesome!

Ayup. I discovered it will clip to my belt loop until I am ready for whatever stuff is clipped to it.
