Also, it is so warm here right now it is scary. No need for the 4 season gear that Fed Ex brought today. :-(
Might be able to use it on the Mount Mitchell trip next month!

Just got back from my trip from Carvers to Overmountain. Temps never got much below 30, but it was nice and rainy all last night. The Appalachian creek, err, trail was a bit slushy going up, sloggy coming back down, and foggy the whole time. Sure am glad I had microspikes. Roan Mtn looked almost snow-free. All we had on our trek was a few inches of old snow here and there along the trail. But LOTS of mud!
You guys have fun!
Also, here's a shameless promotion for the Kahtoola Microspikes. They were the only reason I made it up the hills yesterday.

MisterDark, thanks for the pics! Glad you did well. The weather is def. freaky. If my mom were still around she'd shake her head and say 'it's the end of days'! Let's hope not
Are you planning on coming back up next month for the annual Higher Colder Hang?
I hadnt thought specifically about it, but sure would love to get up there again. I may make it!

Well we watched the weather reports all day and it looked like we were going to get there and sit in the rain. We bailed.
No rain so far and as we sit at home, we are now pissed that we did not go. :-(
Ice <== Wimp.
Just checked in to see if any one went. I want to do a night or two on roan this winter looks like almost 70 tomorrow in town. Keep us updated on when some one is going.
