Glad you liked them. I am also happy with the new river. Also chose it because of humidity here in FL. I have had it down to 28 degrees with a 20 degree sleeping bag. Back got a little cold with just a shirt and a t shirt. Had to put on my fleece jacket to get warm again plus I didn't have the ends cinched up enough and it let some cold in. But I am happy with getting into the high 20's with it. Paul makes good stuff!

So SkyPainter how well does it compress? What size stuff sack do you get it into?
Whether trail or paddle don't you know
My hammock is the way to go
There peace and solitude I find
To ease all troubles from my mind
Both body and soul revel in delight

I have the same underquilt with extra Insultex sewn in. It comes with a big mesh bag for storage and it fits into a smaller 8x8 bag. Paul makes some quality stuff.

Yes, I too am concerned with the stuffed size. Could someone post some pictures of your New River in its stuff sack? Perhaps some pictures of it in a compression sack (if you do such a thing) as well? I'm looking to pick up a synthetic UQ as I do a lot of overnight river trips. Trying to judge whether I should go full or 2/3 (or 3/4 )...

I used to use compression and stuff sacks, but all they did - aside from squish the insulation, was create a rounded object that really didn't fit that well into my packs. Now, I just (using a parachute packing term here) "trash-pack" the UQ in the bottom of the pack. Then there is no wasted space, and I can get a lot more in to the compartment. It also allows for a lot of the insulation to remain 'fluffed', with good air pockets for warmth.

    That's just me.

    Question

Are you still lovin' this UQ? Hopefully with birthday cash and payday, I'll be looking into an UQ soon. Illinois is humid which is one of the reasons I' looking at synthetic myself.

Anyone have anything to add about this UQ

    Thanks,
    Kirk

    Stormstaff:
I have several of these UQ's and I absolutely love them. I like it so much that I got one and use it as a TQ as well. When Paul had them in a DIY kit I bought two kits and with Mandydawns help, we made a 3/4 length one for me and a full length one for her, she is on the shorter side of life..........and still have a whole kit left to make. You cannnot go wrong with this UQ and the "trash-packing" method is what I think I will be going to this year!!!!!!!!!

Stormstaff: Yep! Still digging this UQ! You simply can not go wrong with it, and Paul at AHE is a stand-up guy! I may get a second one for SWMBO!
