    SkyPainter,

    Most importantly, I hope your eye is coming along without any problems. If you're having issues with it, it can be a real time bandit. We're all hoping its coming along with no problems.

    With regard to your sled mods, have you been able to do any further work on it? I'm intrigued by your dual retractable fins. That sounds really sweet. If you have it by the Winter hang, expect a lot of us to be drooling over it. I've seen many a pulk in my day, used for ice fishing mostly, but none so sophisticated as to have retractable fins.

    My first sled didn't even have fins, and when I hiked with it, it was all over the place on anything but flat terrain. With the addition of fins, it took the sway out of it on inclines, but every so often got hung up on underbrush or other trail debris. (My poor fin design). With retractable finds, no worries on getting hung up.

    All the best and hope to see you at the Nor'Easter in January.

    ===> Semper Fi troop! I did a bunch if work with the recon guys in 'Nam!

    Thanks for the concern for my eye(s)! First one is done, healing slowly, but getting there!

    I hope to be able to make the retractable fins for my Pulk by the hang. Not hard, but I have to get the materials and fit 'er done! Either way, I will try to put my ideas and plans here. I think I have it solved- we'll see!

    ===> Thanks again!

    Snowshoes here. There is a trail that goes all the way around the pond. I have to remap it out but there is one. It also connects to a snowmobile trail as well.

    Sky,

    Glad to hear the peeps are coming along. That's great news. Hope to see you in January.

    My Dad, me and my oldest son are all USMC. All Intel backgrounds.

    Watch out for those Recon guys. especially force recon guys.

    On your fin set up in your sled, like I said before, I'm really intrigued by the idea of the retracting fin. Great idea and very practical.

    Good luck with it. Can't wait to see it.

    It will not hurt to have more setups. I will have the trailer again but I think it will be the only time in '14 that I will have it. It looks like we are getting other locations other than mass. Woo hoo.

    i had an idea on the retractable fin thing, the other day i was in a store that had a bunch of snow boards on clearance in the corner and a few of them had fins on the bottum of them.
    I thought , what if you were to cut the boards in half and attach them to your sled with a soft spring hinge? put a loop on the back to tie them up when not needede and lower them down when you do? the hinge would also help to prevent snag,
    What do you guys think??
