How much does being able to control the air in the UQ portion change the temps it would be comfortable at?
How easy is it to change without letting moisture in?
And are u planning on selling these?

I haven't tried this. I haven't had any trouble with it being "too warm".
I do not loft it up by blowing air into it, so the only moisture would be from the humidity in the surrounding air.
I will not be selling these.

late as well but must say this is the most beautiful hammock/uq combo I've ever seen, in fact the only combo I've ever seen.
When you eventually feel totally guilted out over hovering over the trail due to the helium effect you'll get with this in your pack please let me make you an offer.

I too saw it in person, and must say that thing is awesome! Lots of time and effort went into that bad boy. It looked very well made.

Nice. I've been hoping some cuben hammocks would be build.
The fabric might not breath but for winter hanging I don't see that as much of an issue. Blue foam pads don't breath either but its not really an issue.

Wasn't there some aluminized cuben available? It IS mylar so it should be doable. I'm thinking for deep deep cold it might be a great material since you get a built in space blanket.

Now I just want to see someone create a cuben bridgeskin

The reflective type may offer some thermal advantage. This one is pretty warm as is though.

Just after seeing the pics in the first post I know that I'm going to have to build my own. Would ask to know about the placement & performance of the baffles. I would be nervous about the fiber supporting my size & weight (270/6'6") but figure that the cuben could be bonded to a layer of ripstop to solve that. If need be.

Seems like a lot to ask for. But if you have any of the cad work you did for this, it would be awesome to see. Especially anything on the dual differential cut.

Cubic Tech sells many different "cuben fiber materials" You could get material that is 2, or 3, or 10 times stronger than this.
I do not plan on publicly sharing CAD work, or trying to explain how I got to the final design, it's just a bit too tricky to explain.
If you have the brains for this type of thing, and know how to work with the materials, I can try to help fill in some blanks for you.

That has always been my hold up in trying such a hammock. I tried some more "normal" material that was lighter than 1.1 and ended up abrading through it fairly easy. I know how easy cuben can abrade if given half a chance.

As I said, it's an experiment.
Hopefully it will serve me for a while.
If there is some wear and tear, I will deal with it as it comes along.

yep, you betcha! It's a floating cloud of superior fineness! Can you believe he mentioned everyone else, but didn't even touch on any of my wondering advances towards the beauty of this piece?

I'd say I definitely made him uncomfortable...my job is done for today. I just may be on his next hang, and perimeter alarms and lights will be an absolute must, as the first chance I get I'm laying in it
