For those that use the rotary cutting tools... I just looked them up online and see a few different types and wide price range.
What do you use, what features are important, and what do you think is the best "bang for the buck"?
    Thanks!

This is fate that this thread showed up today, just after I went to Walmart (for something else) but happened to pass by the sewing section and saw rotary cutters and the small boards. I almost bought one but thought, "No, wait until I can consult with the experts on HF!"

So, is this HDPE thick enough at 1/16" to work on a carpeted floor? That's all I have for a large enough surface and I'm thinking that 1/16" might be too flexible. I might need 1/8". Any advice from those using HDPE sheets?

Also, the link above to Grainger, is geared to corporate buyers. No shipping costs are listed on the checkout forms. I'm afraid the shipping will be significant on this item and would rather find a conventional retailer that calculates shipping before placing the order. Any other sources?

Thicker sheet would be better if used on top of carpet. Many business accounts get free shipping with Grainger. You are probably right about shipping for non business account.

This is great info but gstepclassical has me wondering, should I go the rotary wheel route or get a soldering gun?

    Thanks Red,
USPlastic was a lot cheaper than Grainger. I ordered a piece. It will come in handy as I am ready to start on another under quilt

    I use a Fiskars, 45mm. http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/p...RODID=prd12593

The Olfa replacement blade will also work in it. http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/p...PRODID=prd5503

Jo-Anne's has 50% off coupons sometimes, that is when I purchase these items.

I just got a great pair of scissors, for the ultra thin fabrics. and used the half off coupon. http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/p...PRODID=prd2890.

I hid these, because all of my others have been used to cut stuff and damaged.

Sure glad we are "Making Gear", and "Thread Injecting", This thread might sound a bit strange anywhere else.

Just the info I was looking for. Thanks.
And yes, my manly ego appreciates the term Thread Injecting.
