    Personal flags / banners

In the dark days in a former life when I was a ground dweller. I had a personal banner / flag that I used to display at my campsites. How many of you carry and display a banner / flag at your camp / hang sites? I would like to start displaying a banner at my hang locations. But somehow I have lost it. Besides it was to large for backpacking. So I am in the process of designing another one. If you do display one how about posting a picture. I am interested to see what is being used / displayed. My old camping one was on the large size. IE: 2ft by 3ft displayed on a flag pole. So I am really interested in size and where / how you display yours. I am thinking a flag that is about a foot squared would be about right. Possibly hung from the Tarp ridge line. Lets see what ya got!

I have a small American Flag that I hang from my hammock ridgeline, but I like the personalization.

    Let the heraldry begin.

Not a bad idea. Would having a flag/banner give me the right to charge tax to all those that pass?

An engineer friend would always bring a small electric lantern and post to our Boy Scout trips. On the base of the post was attached an electric outlet. Each night, he would plug his lamp into the post and the scouts would wonder how he was getting electric power out in the middle of the woods.

A current bush, was the obvious answer.

The whole thing was battery operated, of course, and when you plugged in the lamp, it just completed the circuit.

I just started carrying the Marine Corps Colors in a 12x18" size. Works for me.

My avatar is my flag. Wonderful wife made it for me. She said it was the pirate in me on the river in the heat of summer.

Interesting. I have seen car campers put up signs/flags but have never seen it done while backpacking.

I don't carry a flag b/c it's extraneous weight. Maybe if I could get a pack towel or bandana that doubles as a flag I'd carry it...I always have a bandana hanging on my shoulder strap anyway. Then I could just hang it up to dry and it would be my banner.

There are a lot of Hammock Forums banners that folks carry...I'm sure a few pics will show up soon.

Well on the past couple HF hangs in Linville Gorge I carried my HF and Gorge Rat flags. Not that much weight ... and makes things kinda fun. I also have a small Stars and stripes that proudly go with me at times.
