Just wanted to let it be known that I'll be shifting into a lower gear this year and spending more time around the fire. Still doing the cheezy bacon grits in the morning but will be looking for an apprentice to take over. Will also be doing cobblers in the evening but expect to be handing that off also in the future. Will continue with the Kids Korner but gladly willing to have others contribute ideas and assistance. Just didn't get the time to spend meeting with everyone last year.

Ok, now that the shenanigans are temporarily over we can get back to the serious business of hanging out
It would be a good idea for Gumbo to give her contacts for the campground a call next week (they might be a bit busy the rest of this week and maybe even next week but a phone call shouldn't burden them too much). With a quick glance at the headlines I saw something about "until January 15" so we should find out from them what our options are if there is another shutdown the week before (and during) our big hang.
Talk to them now, plan ahead, but hope for the best.

We love well-behaved dogs. Your friend is just as welcome as you are! We had maybe eight or ten dogs last year, all of 'em very welcome.

I would also add...and tolerant of children.
There are many young hangers here as well and some of them will want to help you with some chores like walking, feeding, watching your 4 legged hiker. I can't speak for them, but they will speak for themselves, you'll see
