I am very jealous, of all the times i have been to maine i have NEVER seen a moose. what the....
I think that trip should be a group hang next summer.

Looks like you couldnt convert your brother to hanging? he'll come around.

    Nice tarp by the way..

    matt.
Your a bad influence on me sir! That tarp is your fault I'm up for a group hang on a section of the Northern Forest trail, you can help me convert him. I'm that close (doing my best Maxwell Smart impression) to getting him back in a hammock. First time was in a bottom entry with a sleeping pad and regular sleeping bag. Trying to convert him to quilts and a side entry now.

It was tight with 7 days of food. One or two packages went with my brother for the first few days. If my girlfriend doesn't want the 12.5 I'm going to sell it and get the 14.5 so I can do more week long trips. Other than that I loved the Tsunami 12.5.

It was over 11 hours driving for us which is getting close to our limit, after 15 hours it's train or plane.

If anyone does decide to do this trip feel free to P.M. me for info. The outfitter we used was great as well as the hotel. We're also thinking of putting together a pdf guide because information was so scarce for a trip in this area. The basics are out there but for a week trip planning gets harder.

Very awesome John! My fiancee' and I have been talking about doing a trip like this for some time now, but with a canoe. Seeing the moose is what she really wants to happen along the trip, and it seems everyone I see do something like this always does. Lots of nice camp spots and absolutely gorgeous scenery. Glad you had a good time

Awesome trip, and report, and pics, John! I agree with the 14.5 Yak for longer trips. Hope to do some hiking and/or hanging with you again this year! Glad you got to 'feel' sleeping on the ground again, too. Reminds us of why we hang in the first place!

Love to see a vid if you put one up!

The key is getting up early and being first on the water. The same day we ran into 6 moose the other group didn't see a thing. We let them get out first on the last day and they ran into 1 or 2 and we were skunked.

===> Can't get to Greylock on the weekend ...hafta help my kid move into a new Dormroom at college, and since it's her bithday weekend, well, you know how THAT is gonna go!

I will need another truck to haul all the stuff (that is still growing!) inside this truck! I found two more backpacks in it last week! Cool stuff in them, too!

Time for a gear sale, I think. I should be able to retire after that.

Maybe I'll see you at the next one. I might even be down in your area for a business trip next month. Maybe get a day or two in for a hang if your around.

I keep saying I'm going to have a gear sale, I just can't pull the trigger

===> It is hard to let go of things. Let me know if you get to this Side of the state. I am almost finished building a Pulk for the winter, and hope to get a few hangs in this year. I will put up some pics once I find the time.
