Remove the stock bolt and wing nut, buy a longer carriage bolt and nut.

Put it back together using the longer bolt and the nut in place of the wing nut.

Grind the end of the bolt to a point.

Put the plug in the end of the tube snug the nut up until the plug is tight in the tube, then you have a spike to stick in the ground to keep the leg from kicking out.

This also keeps the tube from filling up with dirt or mud.

You can leave them in or take them out when you take it down. I take mine out because I don't want to poke anything with the point, plus they make the poles a little too long for the bag.

Can you provide any more information on the shelf limiter? Can you describe in more detail how you made it exactly, and what is the length between poles (each leg on the shelf triangle) that you find to be optimum?

Well, the base of the feet for mine are 5' apart between all the poles. Once I had the feet setup the way I liked them on the carpet (so they didn't move) I just measured the distance from where the poles take down and cut the fabric a little larger.

With the large nylon triangle, I cut off the corners to flatten them out and have an opening for the cord to go through and folded over the material on each side of the triangle. Double stitched them and fed the 550 cord through. I put the 550 cord below the first pole and I have the draw cord locks to keep them from sliding up the pole.

When I take them down, I loosen the cord locks and raise the cord up above where the two pole meet and lock them again and take it down..

Way too much bowing. PLEASE move the hammock attachment points closer to the ridgepole hanging points to eliminate the ridgepole bowing. There is simply no reason to risk failure and injury like that.

Can you imagine the damage that one of those poles could do? Heck a coach just died from being hit in the face. ..I always put my hammock straps right at the pole attachment. I hardly get any flex.

I wouldn't want to be the one hit with one. ..

Yes, this is what happens when you leave to take out the trash with 3 young adventerous women in the room with your stuff all set up.

I was shocked to see the tremendous amount of bow, and immediately told them to get down. They demanded a photo op. After seeing the photo, they understood my shock.

I haven't quite figured out how to hang from around the pole itself. Right now my caribiners are clipped into the ends of the ridgepole and i'm hanging from that. Around 3-6" of flex with just me in it. Obviously with the girls in it that caused quite a bit more.
