Upgrading the Software, A BIG Thank You

As someone who refers to technology as "automagic" - I want to thank the volunteer members who have donated their time, expertise and effort to this upgrade. The time all of you have spent away from family and friends this weekend to relentlessly work on this software is impressive and appreciated.

I would like to propose a "thank you jar" to these technology savvy members. Is there a way to set up a "fund" where we could donate specifically to the upgrade team? After a bit of time for donations, the funds could be divided and shared. I would even go as far to guess that most of the donations would go back to the purchase of hammock related gear for these members.

I am not sure how to best proceed with this, or if there is enough interest to proceed. Please share your thoughts on if or how we could move this forward.

    Thanks,

You say it so much better than I did.
I hope some mod can merge these two threads and that everyone will just chime in and give these guys the love they deserve!
Still getting the hang of it

Thanks to everyone for your support. This upgrade was a long time coming. We upgraded from version 3.8.7 to version 4.2.2! The old software the forum was running on was released on 28 February 2011 and that was a maintenance release. That means active development had long since ceased. This is part of the reason why we had such a long and bumpy upgrade process. Many of the plugins and local customizations such as the photo gallery, media gallery, themes, and others are also no longer being actively maintained.

    Thanks for your support!

P.S. I don't think we have a 'tip jar' so to speak, though I like that idea

Yeah, Thanks for your hard work. It did not seem like a pleasurable process. You deserve a nap! I like it better now that I found out where everything lives.

There's a way to become a donating member.

The funds go to the forum owner (for software upgrades, hardware costs, servers, and profit), but he can (at his discretion) choose to disperse a portion of those to the forum admins/moderators.
