I have seen a few posts where the calf ridge issue can be solved (or at least moved to somewhere more unnoticeable) by hanging the foot end higher than the head end, maybe you've tried this or just been doing it accidentally until you gained more experience. I don't know, but if you've not tried then it may make a difference?

I always hung with the foot end slightly elevated so when it happened, I raised it even further. Didn't help unfortunately.

Used a WBBB daily for better than 6 months, never had a calf (or other) ridge that couldn't be managed by suspension adjustments and finding the sweet spot. Same holds true for the XLC that's been in daily use the last 8-9 months. Sure I can create a ridge just be shifting around in the hammock, and just easily make it disappear by shifting again.

Difficult to imagine there is enough stretch in the fabric to be the cause, especially since I am twice your weight and have yet to encounter the issue in double layer 1.7's or single layer 2.6's. Anything is possible but it seems unlikely to me.

If there is no hope for recovering that sweet lay of your Blackbird, maybe let it fly to a new home while you enjoy hunting up a new hammock. Group gatherings have given me an excellent oppurtunity to try so many hammocks and I've been fortunate to find several very comfortable hangs. No doubt you will as well. Best of luck on the search.

It seems unlikely to me as well, but I've gone through every known solution to fix the issue and none work. I've yet to find time for a group hang and will be at one as soon as my schedule permits. I have no doubt that I will find my next hammock in no time at all. So many great vendors and choices now, I might just buy one of each!

JollyGreen is a great guy.

He does make this forum proud with his generosity, but he's that kind of guy. Also, just so you know, he didn't get his trail name because he's a little guy. I've hung with Jolly before. He's a big guy. Good natured too, but don't make him mad.

First of all, Jolly is the MAN!!! Not gonna lie, while happy for him getting the job in colorado (which is not a bad place to be if you like the outdoors), I was bummed to find out he was not able to attend the MAHHA after all. Way to go Jolly on this one though.

Second, (and I know this is kind of a weird answer), but our bodies change over time more than we realize. They say that every 7 years, it's as if you are different person physically in many aspects (vision, taste buds, allergies, and COMFORT). I used to sell furniture, and I learned that people's comfort preferences regarding their mattresses (not those things

), change over time. Not saying this is the answer to all your calf ridge issues, but think about why many people hammock camp in the first place; we no longer wanted to sleep on the ground with pads.... When I was 17, I used to camp with no pads, with rocks in by back, and thought it was not very comfortable, but livable. Now, I'm a total princess with a pea when it comes to comfort.(Please don't call me a princess after this, it will scar me emotionally and bring me back to my childhood with two older brothers) It's not crazy to think the cause of the calf pressure may have always been somewhat present, but you may be getting more sensitive to it, and now that you are aware, it has become a focus.
As usual, my opinions are just wild and crazy speculations based on little more than my bored brain making hypotheses.
