    reflextix

can this be used for liner in a hammock? If I made something to act as a sleeping pad underneath my sleeping bag would it be to ragged and cut into the fabric? could you make it so it came up the sides to help with heat loss on your arms and such? I know people make spe's but do they use reflextic or just cfp's?

Yes it can be used as under insulation. Not sure how cold you could go with just the Reflectix by it self, I have used it in combination with CCF down pretty cold.

If you would like to test it out I have a piece up for grabs in the PIF thread.

Sure can. Lay on it like a pad. For some it may cause condensation but like most stuff hammocky....you just have to try and see if it works for you.
I always carry a 12x14" piece as a sit pad and slip it under my buttocks or back if needed in deep cold to augment my insulation system.

Its funny you should say that because that's why I was asking. When I saw your pif I was trying to think of what I could use it for.

Thanks shug. How does it pack down? Does it make permanent creases that would be felt while laying?

I have an underquilt that is not full length. I use a piece of reflectix under my calves and feet. Works great. I have tried it under my torso, but I have gotten condensation, not bad, but it was definite. I simply roll it up. It does not compress at all, keeps its integrity well.

I tried ex, sine I sleep in shorts mostly, I didn't like it against my skin (I would lose it if it weren't inside my footbox in my top quilt. )

So I spray-glued a piece of thin fleece to it and it works great!
