    My first Whoopie Sling

I am new to hanging and this weekend hung my new Clark NX-250 for the first time. Wow!

Thanks to the great tutorial on the forum, I made my first Whoopie Sling but added a hanging loop on each end for shoes, lantern etc. I though I'd post a picture and see if you guys find a flaw I may need to fix. I know that in the bottom left picture it looks like my Whooopie only goes back through for about 4-5" but it is 10". It must be the angle of the picture.

Congrats on your hang! I don't see any 'flaw' in your setup.

Interesting arrangement with the hanging loop, too. The only drawback is that adds a little length to the 'minimum' distance between trees you can use, but as long as you like the utility of it, that's a small downside.

    Thanks for sharing.

Nice job on the first slings, Plaunius. I like the variation with the hanging loops, definitely a good idea.

Yea, I noticed that with the Whoopie Sling in general but thank goodness I'm in a tree filled state and had plenty to choose from.

Not to hijack my own thread but I just changed from ENO Slapstraps to Strapworks Poly straps.

I need the ability to attach my Whoopie right against the tree if need be. I can't figure how to add in an adjustable attachment point on a strap without tying a knot in the webbing that is almost impossible to get out later.

I have four descending rings if they can be used to achieve the same result. Keep in mind, I'm Umber newbie so pictures work wonders!

Take a look at Grizz's video tutorials on hammock suspension and give a good, close look at the marlinspike hitch. That's how I attach my Whoopies to my tree huggers, as many do here. It's a simple knot and a very quick, effective method of hanging.

Cool innovation, dude. One question: Isn't a bowline likely to slip in amsteel? I was under the impression that a triple fisherman's bend should be substituted on this type of line. I could be wrong.

AHHH I remember my first. One plus for adding that thing in the loop is you can't accidently pull the loop closed. Nice color. I remember way back when we only had blue.

Ok, it is there but I can't see how it is tied in the video. I may need to shoot him a PM. Thanks for pointing me in his direction.

If you google "marlinespike hitch" you should be directed to an animated knot site. Very helpful.

It is demonstrated clearly in Part 2 of his 3 part suspension video series. Here's a direct link to the point in the video where it is shown.
