The first thing I saw in your pic Mag was the 'sawblade' and thinking someone over at BCUSA would love to have that. Then realized it was a tabletop. Back to the subject of the pic, another great looking stand. More pics please when you get the hammock made and hung.

So are there any of you stand builders here in UK who have an alternative ridge pole? Or in the US who can suggest a workable alternative?
    Alan

I don't know what's available local to you but the reason the fence rail is popular is that it has a swaged end and can easily be assembled and taken apart into shorter pieces. If you don't need to take it apart, most anything rigid that's greater than 10 feet or so in length will work. If you do it right, hanging the ridge pole and the hammock from about the same points, bending isn't much of an issue.

    Good luck!

Yea, we stuck all the patio furniture under there or behind the shed when I stained the deck a few weeks ago. Leaving it there for the winter.

I don't have any amsteel, so I tripled up some 550 to attache the toprail to the stands and used a quick link rated at 1000+lbs for the hangers.

Replacing a toilet this AM, then off to see Skyfall. Might get to sewing the channels for a knotty hammock with the crinkle taffeta

Sorry it took so long, but I set up my TDS Friday night and got a great night's sleep!

Now I just need to go buy another fence rail so I can hang my RidgeRunner!

Oh: Can you say Mule Tape?

    Red face

Set another steak on the barbie, and add another name to the list. Stuck to Randy's instructions on leg cuts, added the 10 foot section of EMT (covered with some WW camo duct tape, and s-hook coming off of hinge. Wanted to try something on the attachment to the stand for the hammock, so I used the hooks off the remainder of some harbor freight tie downs, cut the pins off, and looped over end of tube. This way, whoopies can be routed throught the hook, and secured to each other with a chain link. This gives a very adjustable lay to the hammock using whoopies design intent.

    #117 got made today...
    uploadfromtaptalk1353452860329.jpg
I made mine this way... I made it seven foot tall poles and a 13'8" pipe in the center... It is a little tall for my grand trunk with the ridgeline tight and just perfect for my table cloth hammock... I just wrapped my tree straps around like in the picture and marlin spike my grand trunk in like usual... My table cloth hammock I just threw the whoopies over the ends... I put some ranger bands over the bolt to cover any sharp corners...
    uploadfromtaptalk1353453040845.jpg
I screwed some stainless hooks into the back leg to run a ridgeline for the tarp... I figure they will straighten out way before I pull the stand over...
uploadfromtaptalk1353453103836.jpg paracord around the legs... They are spread 4' eat the base with a granny knot at each post to make sure I stay consistent in the tie...
