Can you come out Thursday night? Rod and I will be up there. I think we are going to stay at the "Spring."

We've got our membership drive for our Drum and Bugle Corps that weekend, board meeting after and a Pancake breakfast fundraiser on Sunday. Got to come up with 98k for horns and 45k for drums somehow.

I'm going to miss this one. I miss YRSF and the coyote music at night.

I'll sneak out this weekend for a quick overnighter in Kettle Moraine North by myself and put the new UQ to the test.

I went over to YRSF yesterday and shot some video of all 4 backpacking campsites. These are free, no reservation, primitive sites. I think Heffern's hill might not be ideal for the group hang on sat, especially if there are going to be first timers there. I'm no expert but i found site placement to be fairly problematic and lots and lots of thorn scrub in the bush. On the flip side, I hadn't ever tried camp wendel in the fall and was surprised by how many good sites I found with only a few minutes of hunting, more than I found on heffern's hill. Take a look.

    Doody,
    says video removed by user.

I've hung at all 4 sites multiple times and would have to say that Glen Wendell is the least desirable of the 4. Only one small firepit on sidehill, no water(unless you're planning on the scummy pond) and less trees than the other 3 sites.

We've had 10 hammocks before at Heffern's Hill and there is water. Go all the way to the back and there is a huge firepit with benches on 3 sides and a 3 sided shelter which would be nice in bad weather. There is room for at least 5 hammocks in the mowed area between the 2nd and 3rd firepits and then there is all sorts of un-thorny woods behind the 3rd firepit plus it allows for a good hike on Saturday if we stay at John Schultz on Friday night.
